No comprehensive anti-discrimination law in Norway

There will be no merger of the various discrimination laws in Norway. Instead, a new law protecting the LGBT population against discrimination will be introduced. The Minister of Equality is satisfied, but the LGBT organization had preferred a comprehensive law. The debate is similar to the one in Finland. Read more

Sexual preferences, sexual identities and gender expressions no longer diagnosed in Finland

Diagnoses about transvestism and fetishism, among others, should be cancelled from the Finnish disease classification system. This is suggested by a working group at the National Institute for Health and Welfare. Read more
Nordic Experts in European Anti-discrimination Group
The EU-Commission is working with a governmental expert group to follow up the findings of a comparative study on homophobia and discrimination on grounds of sexual orientation in the EU, carried out by the European Union Agency for Fundamental Rights. Representatives from the Nordic countries participate. Read more
Nordic anti-discrimination policy charted

The various discrimination grounds such as gender and ethnicity intensify and weaken each other. Thus, legislation covering only one ground may prove inadequate in the combat against discrimination. A report drawn up by NIKK lists current proposals for new legislation and administration in the Nordic countries. Read more
