Nordic Society for Research on Men and Masculinities established
The Nordic academic environment for research into men and masculinities has founded its first society. On Wednesday 28 January 2009, the first board of the Nordic Society for Research on Men and Masculinities was appointed at the conference “Changing Men and Masculinities in Gender Equal Societies” at Roskilde University in Denmark. “The Norwegian Government is now best in the world when it comes to fatherhood policies.” This is claimed by masculinity researcher Jørgen Lorentzen after the Government presented a whole set of proposals that focus on men and gender equality on 12 December. Read more

Norway Leads the Way - Men to Join the Equality Train
The Norwegian Government is preparing the world’s first parliamentary proposition on men and gender equality. The aim is to include all areas where the male role is of significance to gender equality. It is, however, too early to specify what concrete suggestions will be made. Read more
