Berit Ås developed the theory on the five master suppression techniques in order to be able to explain to other women why they are so often rendered invisible and not taken seriously by men in positions of power. Master suppression techniques are part of the body language and can only be countered by being pointed out. In management issues master suppression techniques are constantly topical – not least when it comes to women in leading positions.
